Welcome to the Newsome High School PTSA website!
Newsome High School PTSA. Giving you News You Can Use to be informed, to get involved, and to make a difference.
Newsome High School PTSA is proud to be an integral part of the success
of Newsome High School. We invite you to become a member whether you are
student, parent or teacher - together we can and do make a difference.
It is very important for parents to continue to involve themselves in
their children's education, especially when they are in high school.
According to many studies, the number one factor in determining how well
your child succeeds in high school is parental involvement and support.
The Parent Teacher Student Association is one of the best ways to
coordinate that involvement. The mission of the Newsome High School PTSA
is to support and speak in the community on behalf of the youth at
Newsome High School. Our NHS PTSA board is excited to help achieve this
mission and to collaborate together to be a resource for our parents,
teachers and students. Have a question and need some answers? Click here or on the Contacts tab to email our Officers who are here to help you!
We can only be successful with your support and participation. We
welcome and request your involvement. What's in it for you? Awareness of
what's happening at the school and knowing that YOU CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE FOR THE STUDENTS AT NEWSOME!
We are pleased to announce that we have once again budgeted money to fund Mini-Grants. The grant money is available for use on projects or programs that will benefit students at
Newsome High School. Click here for more information and the application.
Mini-grant applications are due by Friday, January 30, 2015. All applications and
project descriptions must be typed and returned to the PTSA mailbox in the Main Office. Approved
funds must be used by February 27, 2015, unless the project or program takes place after this
date. All 2014-1015 applicants must be Newsome PTSA members before submitting
their mini-grant application. Please note that if the mini-grant will
be used by any other members in a department, they all need to be PTSA
members. If you have any questions please contact the PTSA Mini-Grant Chairperson Lynea
D’Angelo, at minigrants@newsomehighschool/ptsa.org.
Blue Letter Envelopes
Do you have a graduating senior? Have you heard of the Blue Letter
Envelope program? On the morning of the Senior Breakfast, Seniors are
given an envelope filled with notes from friends, family, teachers, etc.
It's up to YOU as a parent to make this happen for your child and most
parents choose to make this a surprise for their graduating students.
Every student LOVES being handed a large envelope filled with notes of
congratulations and good wishes. Now is the time to start thinking
about who you want to contact! Past teachers, coaches, and parents of
close friends are all potential Blue Letter Envelope writers. Newsome is
one of few schools to offer this amazing experience to our
students--don't miss the opportunity to provide your child with a special
graduation memory. Click here for letter drop off information.

NHS uses two mass communication systems to keep you informed of current information.
- First is
PARENT LINK. Parent Link is a phone messaging system that uses the number that is listed on your student’s emergency card. If you have not received a call yet, contact the school at 813-740-4600 and provide them with a good number so you don’t miss out on the regular Parent Link calls.
The second is EDSBY. HCPS is streamlining communication with MySpot, the Student Parent Online Toolkit. If you were enrolled in HCPS last year, your sign-on remains the same. Students new to HCPS will use your MySpot account. To set up your MySpot account, visit https://myspot.sdhc.k12.fl.us/register/
Newsome is also utilizing a text messaging system to inform parents of Newsome events. To join, either text “@newsomep” to 754-600-4875 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org leaving message and subject blank.
